Eight cases of chloroma seen on CT were reviewed. Radiologic manifestations of granulocytic sarcoma in adult leukemia. Granulocytic sarcoma is an uncommon tumor composed of granulocytic precursor cells. This presentation details the authors' experience with 61 biopsy‐proven granulocytic sarcomas. We present an unusual case of a granulocytic sarcoma (chloroma) of the sacrum which predated the initial clinical manifestation of acute myelogenous leukemia. Although usually associated with systemic disease in acute myeloid leukemia, granulocytic sarcoma may herald leukemic transformation in myelodysplastic disorders or diseases, including chronic myeloid leukemia, polycythemia rubra vera, myelofibrosis, and chronic eosinophilic leukemia [1,2]. It is a rare condition, most often associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), although in some rare cases it may present in nonleukemic patients. Velasco F, Ondarza R, Quiroz F, Quiroz F, Arista J. Objective: Granulocytic sarcoma is a tumor formed by myeloid precursors at an extramedullary site. Granulocytic sarcoma lesions were multiple soft-tissue masses with variable enhancement, recurring in nearly 50% of patients at different sites and points of time during the course of the disease. We present CT and MRI findings of an extraconal mass proven to be granulocytic sarcoma in a 6-year-old otherwise healthy boy with several months' history of worsening unilateral proptosis. Because it occurs in a variety of clinical settings and because the tumor cells are primitive it is frequently unrecognized during life. Granulocytic sarcoma is most commonly observed in patients with acute myelogenous leukaemia and less frequently with chronic myelogenous leukaemia or other myeloproliferative disorders [1, 2]. The first page of the PDF of this article appears above. PURPOSE To assess imaging features of granulocytic sarcoma (GS) in children with myelogenous leukemia. It was later named Cloroma by King 1853 due to its high level of myeloperoxidases that make it look green. The T2 weighted coronal images on MR showed both multiple ill-defined heterogeneous hyperintense masses relative to breast parenchyma; these masses were seen also with a visual washout enhancement. @article{osti_5678447, title = {Granulocytic sarcoma (chloroma): CT manifestations}, author = {Pomeranz, S J and Hawkins, H H and Towbin, R and Lisberg, W N and Clark, R A}, abstractNote = {Nests of granulocytic tumor cells in patients who have myelogeneous leukemia are termed chloromas.
