Gail’s journey to contemplative Christianity is rooted in the ritual and mystery she experienced in the Catholic Church as a child in the ’50s and early ’60s, and is informed by her study of Tibetan Buddhism in the ’70s and early ’80s. She found the convergence of her Christian background and her Buddhist contemplative experience in the contemplative Christian heritage and the practice of Centering Prayer. Gail attended the first intensive Centering Prayer retreat that Fr. Thomas Keating offered at the Lama Foundation in San Cristobal, New Mexico in 1983. As a result, she became a devoted Centering Prayer practitioner and a founding member of Contemplative Outreach. As a laywoman, Gail represents the essence of the community that Contemplative Outreach serves: Christians wishing for a deeper relationship with God through transformation lived out in ordinary life, outside the monastic cloister.
Gail is a mother, grandmother and had a private psychotherapy practice from 1982-1992, all at a time when she was engaging more deeply in the practice of Centering Prayer and laying the foundations for what would become the worldwide community of Contemplative Outreach. She understands the difficulties of balancing the activities of an ordinary life with the attraction to silence, solitude and service.

Seeking to establish a new pedagogy for learning spirituality that was grounded in an effort to reawaken the West to its own mystical traditions in such figures as Hildegard of Bingen, Meister Eckhart and the mysticism of Thomas Aquinas, as well as interacting with contemporary scientists who are also mystics, Fox founded the Institute in Culture and Creation Spirituality that operated for seven years at Mundelein College in Chicago and twelve years at Holy Names College in Oakland . For ten of those years at Holy Names College Cardinal Ratzinger, as chief Inquisitor and head of the Congregation of Doctrine and Faith (called the Office of the Holy Inquisition until 1965), tried to shut the program down. Ratzinger silenced Fox for one year in 1988 and forced him to step down as director. Three years later he expelled Fox from the Order thus terminating the program at Holy Names College.

Yoga is becoming a tool for emotional healing in conjunction with psychotherapy. Why? As our sense organs receive information from all of our life experiences, an impression of the experience embeds itself in the nervous system of the body. The combination of slow yoga movement, breathing and meditation allow the client to relax, become present and unite with the authentic self. This state of being empowers us to view the impression as a “witness” rather than a “judge’ and release any emotional attachment (pain/pleasure, like/dislike, sweet/sour) to the memory.

We will discusss…
So often we are waiting for that “right” moment, the perfect job or the ideal relationship or even for “someday” to arrive! I will encourage as well as challenge listeners to “disrupt their ordinary” and live their passion now! I will share my 5 Power Principles to move from waiting into living.
Listeners will learn how to...
>> Stop “being stuck in the past” and live powerfully today
>> Create an “inner phenomenon” by using one simple technique
>> Transform past failures into mind-blowing success.
Kristen Moeller thrives while “disrupting the ordinary” and inspiring others to do the same. A highly respected coach, author, speaker and radio show host who holds a master’s degree in counseling, Kristen has more than 21 years experience in the field of personal development. Her Best-Selling book, Waiting for Jack: Confession of a Self-Help Junkie – How to Stop Waiting and Start Living Your Life, explores our pervasive human tendency to wait and look outside ourselves for answers. Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul fame wrote the foreword to the book. Kristen is also the founder of the non-profit Chick-a-go Foundation, which provides “pay-it-forward” scholarships for transformational educational training programs reaching people who otherwise cannot afford such opportunities. She hosts a weekly internet radio show, “What Are You Waiting For?” and is a celebrity ambassador to the National Eating Disorder Association. She resides in Colorado with her husband in eco-friendly, solar powered home.
